Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp hopes this is the year the team can win something, having come close in recent seasons.
Speaking at his FWA tribute night, he said: “I do hope that they can win something. They’ve been close for a few years now, hopefully they can find something extra.
“I feel they’re in a stable position, but hopefully some players will come or the players who are there can make something out of it. A little bit more quality and belief, then who knows?”
Bergkamp won three Premier League titles and four FA Cups with the Gunners, and was famously part of Arsenal’s Invincible season in 2003/04.
Fair to say that Arsenal haven’t quite reached the same heights as when the Dutchman was in the squad, although there has been a resurgence under Mikel Arteta.
Bergkamp’s former side are six points behind Liverpool and will have to be almost flawless until the end of the season to bring the Premier League title to the Emirates.
