New Grêmio president Odorico Roman has begun his tenure with potential good news, as amid the club’s financial difficulties a possible sale of forward Guilherme from Santos to Houston Dynamo could bring in funds.
According to GE, the MLS side has lodged an offer worth one point seven million dollars, about R$ nine point two million, for the 30-year-old, who came through Grêmio’s academy and has struggled for favour at Santos.
Grêmio kept 20% of his economic rights when he joined Santos, so a completed deal would yield 340,000 dollars, approximately R$ one point eight million. The club would also receive an additional amount via FIFA’s solidarity mechanism as his formative side.
Guilherme returned to Grêmio in 2022 for the Série B campaign. Early in 2023 he was included in the agreement that took midfielder Dodi and forward Soteldo to Grêmio, with Santos not paying a fee for him.
The transfer has not yet been finalised. If it goes through, Grêmio stand to benefit from the sell-on and training payments.
