A fellow member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona could well have his future majorly impacted, by the latest injury blow suffered by Andreas Christensen.

The name of stopper Christensen has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last 24 hours.

This comes after the Danish international, out of the blue, was condemned to an impending spell on the sidelines.

After boss Hansi Flick announced that Christensen was dealing with an unspecified fitness concern, widespread reports followed, pointing towards the former Chelsea man being in line for at least a month out of action.

And as much, as alluded to above, could yet have a telling impact on Barcelona’s plans for another member of the club’s defensive core.

On Friday afternoon, word was forthcoming that the Camp Nou brass had scheduled a fresh round of talks with their counterparts at neighbours Girona.

This came with a view to discussions over the potential return of Eric García to the latter.

With both Mika Faye and Clément Lenglet on the way out, and Ronald Araújo having now been joined on the treatment table by Christensen, it is safe to assume that Deco and co. may all of a sudden be altogether more hesitant when it comes to allowing Eric to depart.
