Wrexham are continuing to improve the Racecourse Ground, and it could eventually have a capacity of over 30,000.
Wrexham have enjoyed a brilliant rise over the past few years under the guidance of their Hollywood owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.
The duo have not only transformed the football club on the pitch, taking the team from non-league to the Championship, but they have put major investment into the local area as well.
Pleasingly for Wrexham, they’re showing no signs of slowing down, and the next step for the club is to increase the capacity of the Racecourse Ground.

Of course, this is a long-term project that will be taken step-by-step, and it will require more significant funding to eventually make it the stadium that the owners dream of.
The first major development is already taking place, as the club are working on a new Kop stand that will take the overall capacity to in excess of 18,000.
However, the Red Dragons hope that is just the start of things, as the ultimate aim is to take the Welsh club to the Premier League.
Naturally, that will increase demand for tickets, and chief executive Michael Williamson has previously stated to the Wrexham Leader that they eventually want to have a capacity of 28,000 to 32,000, which is the most they could get in their current location.
But, that won’t happen all at once, as the next objective after the Kop development is to increase the capacity to 23,000 by 2035. Providing that happens, it means the Racecourse Ground would be eligible to host a game at the 2035 Women’s World Cup, which the UK is looking to host.
After that, the final stage would see Wrexham increasing the capacity to somewhere between 28,000 to 32,000, which Williamson confirmed would be the maximum due to the ‘footprint’ of the site.

It’s been a remarkable rise for Wrexham over the past few years, and the exciting journey is showing no signs of stopping.
To match the rise on the pitch, they need to make strides off it, and if Wrexham do have a capacity of over 30,000, it would show just how far they’ve come.
Whilst it may not compare to Birmingham, who are in the process of building a 62,000 seater stadium, if Wrexham do complete the full expansion, it would put the Racecourse Ground among the bigger grounds in the division.
Of course, this is a long, long way off, but Wrexham will be enjoying the rollercoaster ride they have been on since the new owners came in, and they will feel there’s a long way to go yet.
Even now, they will feel a top six finish isn’t completely out of the question, and promotion to the Premier League at any time in the next few years would surely fast-track any stadium plans.
