The Red Dragons are seeking an incredible fourth promotion in a row after going straight from the National League to the Championship under Phil Parkinson.

The Welsh outfit are in the mix for a play-off place with just seven games to go, with the team level on points with Southampton in sixth.

Parkinson’s side have impressed many in the second division, but will need to continue their good run of form once the league resumes after the March international break.

The club have already been linked with a number of names in the event that they earn a place in the top flight.

It has previously been reported that both Andy Robertson and Harry Wilson are among the names on their shortlist, should they gain promotion.

Everton emerge as Harry Wilson front-runners

According to Football Insider, Everton have emerged as the favourites to sign Wilson at the end of the season.

The Fulham winger has interest from a number of sides, including Leeds United, with his contract set to expire in the summer.

However, it’s believed that David Moyes’ side are now best placed to secure his signing, with their push for European football this campaign seen as a driving force behind their offer.

Meanwhile, the Whites are embroiled in a relegation battle, although they now are in a position where they could survive in the top flight.

This could also come as a blow to Wrexham, who have not yet even secured their place in the Premier League for next season.

Wilson has enjoyed a strong campaign for Fulham, and a move back to his hometown could be tempting, but Everton are currently seen as the front-runners in the race to sign him as a free agent.

The Welshman has contributed 10 goals and six assists for Marco Silva’s side, with the team sitting ninth in the table, and also in the competition for European football.

Wrexham are seventh in the Championship table, level on points with Southampton in sixth but behind due to an inferior goal difference.

Parkinson’s side have won five of their last seven in the league, and could need as many in their final seven fixtures to earn a place in the play-offs.

Harry Wilson bid might be too ambitious for Wrexham yet

Wilson has enjoyed the strongest season of his career, so it’s no surprise that he’s eyeing a team with European credentials for this summer.

Even if Wrexham go up, they will likely be fighting for their survival in the Premier League, and the 29-year-old would rather be competing in Europe instead, particularly as he is now at the peak of his powers.

Perhaps this is the kind of deal that could be revisited in a couple of years, but for now it might be a touch too ambitious from the Red Dragons.

The club must first secure their place in the top flight before they even consider themselves in the running for his signing at the very least.
