Flamengo’s priority this window is Thiago Almada, though Luiz Henrique has emerged as an option. According to Coluna Do Fla, the club are assessing a potential move.
Even before the window opened, Luiz Henrique was viewed positively at the club. President Bap praised the forward in recent interviews. Flamengo tracked his World Cup involvement with Brazil but made no formal approach.
Early on Tuesday, José Boto addressed the links after landing at Galeão from Argentina, saying Flamengo do not fixate on one player and work on several fronts.
Lucas Paquetá, a Flamengo academy product who shared Brazil duty with Luiz Henrique, said on Monday at Ninho do Urubu he had jokingly invited him to join. He added that admiration aside, any decision rests with the club and he would be welcomed if he came.
The winger has been on Flamengo’s radar in past windows. Talk resurfaced after an intermediary met Boto at the team hotel in Porto Alegre last week.
Negotiations are cautious given the high figures. The main target remains Almada, and if that pursuit stalls the expectation is Flamengo could move more decisively for the Zenit attacker.
Any negotiations are handled exclusively by Luiz Henrique’s staff rather than family members. He is settled in Russia, has resumed training after the World Cup and remains available to Zenit.
Meanwhile, Flamengo face Vitória on Sunday at the Maracanã in the Brasileirão, kick-off 19:30 Brasília time.
