Despite joining Watford initially back in 2017, it was not until the 2021/22 campaign until Hornets fans finally got a look at the name they had heard about for so long – Cucho Hernandez.
It was some introduction for the Colombian, too, with his official club debut coming in the Hornets 3-2 opening day victory against Aston Villa last season in the Premier League.
Coming on as a 66th minute substitute that match, Cucho went on to score a wonderful goal from range, chopping in from the left hand side on to his right foot to beat Emi Martinez with a curled effort.
For the remainder of the season, Hernandez went on to make a further 27 appearances in all competitions, ending the season with five goals and three assists in 28 games.
There was a feeling, though, that following Watford’s relegation, he could be a big player for the club down in the Championship.
That was until the board took the decision to sell the Colombian last summer, when MLS outfit Columbus Crew came knocking.

At the time, it was reported the deal could be worth as much as £9.3 million pounds, roughly translated from dollars.
Joining the MLS season at the halfway stage, Cucho Hernandez went on to have an individually successful start to life stateside.
Indeed, in his 16 MLS appearances in 2022, the Colombian forward scored nine goals and registered two assists – a very good return.
The 2023 campaign has just got underway, with Columbus Crew having been defeated last weekend by Philadelphia, 4-1.
Unfortunately, Cucho was not on the scoresheet on this occasion, but if his form last season was anything to go by, there’s no doubt he could be in for a fruitful, full campaign in MLS.
As such, things appear to be going rather well for the Colombian since departing Vicarage Road.
Given the club’s lack of firepower this season in the Championship, you do wonder if there is a tinge of regret when it comes to his sale.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, though.
