Elias Kachunga spent four years at Huddersfield Town both on loan and on a permanent basis, with him having a decent spell at the club overall.

Kachunga hails from Germany and spent his career before coming to the Terriers in his native land, playing for the likes of Heretha Berlin, Paderborn and Inglostadt along the way, before making a move to the Yorkshire club.

Indeed, he initially joined on loan for the 16/17 season and he quickly settled in, proving a first-team regular and a goal-scoring threat as Huddersfield got into the Premier League.

They would sign him on a permanent basis on the back of that but his two seasons in the top flight were not as prolific, with an injury keeping him out for three months in the 17/18 season.

Back in the Championship for 19/20, Kachunga played over 30 league games for the club but he was let go at the end of the year, with him moving to Sheffield Wednesday.

Since playing with the Owls, Kachunga has moved to Bolton Wanderers where he has been a regular since arriving in 2021.

This year, he has made 10 appearances from the start and another 7 from the bench, as well as recording an assist – as per Whoscored.

The challenge for Bolton this season, then, is to try and achieve a play-off place and then go for promotion, but whether they are able to or not remains to be seen.

They have had a positive start so far in the first half of the campaign with them sitting in fifth place in the table, and they would certainly take that at the end of the year.

There’s a bit of a gap to the top three of Plymouth, Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday but after that there’s a host of sides that could qualify for the top six, including the Trotters, and so the second half of the campaign will be competitive.

Kachunga will hope, then, he can get another promotion on his CV.
