Liam Cooper's Sheffield Wednesday contract will expire in June
Sheffield Wednesday finished the season on a high point with a 2-1 victory against West Brom on the final day.
David Storch officially completed his takeover of the club prior to kick-off, with a packed Hillsborough crowd celebrating the start of a new era.
The Yorkshire outfit had been in administration since October, but their nightmare financial situation is now finally over and they can start work on rebuilding under new owners while also avoiding a 15-point deduction in League One next term.
Henrik Pedersen’s side hadn’t won a match since September prior to the victory against the Baggies last Saturday.
Goals from Nathaniel Chalobah and Liam Palmer sealed their first win at home all season, putting the team back onto zero points.
Planning will now be underway to build a team capable of competing in League One next season, with the team suffering relegation from the Championship.

Liam Cooper has claimed that he would love to remain a Sheffield Wednesday player going into the next campaign, as his contract comes to a close in the coming weeks.
The ex-Leeds United defender joined the Owls as a free agent in the middle of the season, and he’s made it clear to Pedersen that he wants to stick with the team going into the third tier, but no decision has yet been made.
“I'd love to stay,” said Cooper, via The Star.
“I've made Henrik aware of that and hopefully that can be sorted in the near future, but if not, I've had a great time at Sheffield Wednesday, an unbelievable club.
“Everything's so fresh at the moment, there's a lot of meetings to be had.
“And yeah, I'm happy to wait. I've really enjoyed my time at the club, and hopefully there can be something there.
“I think we've got a great chance of bouncing straight back next season. It's an amazing group of people.
“What they have been through together, the culture is amazing, and I would like to be a part of that.”
Cooper joined Sheffield Wednesday in November as a free agent following his exit from CSKA Sofia.
The defender brought experience to Pedersen’s side, and he featured a total of 14 times in their Championship campaign.
He proved a useful addition to the squad, but his contract is now set to expire at the end of June, raising questions over his future.
The takeover led by Storch being completed now allows Sheffield Wednesday to plan for the future, and ironing out player contracts for next season will likely be high on their immediate priorities list.
The Owls won just twice all season, with a limited squad struggling for results at this level, so Pedersen will be keen to bolster and rebuild the team for life in League One.
The club have avoided a 15-point deduction penalty for next season, which it was feared they’d be handed by the EFL in the leadup to the takeover, so next season represents a complete, and long-awaited, clean slate.

Cooper is a solid pro, and the kind of leader that Pedersen will want to keep around the dressing room next season.
It would be a smart piece of business to keep him on for at least another year, as he knows what it takes to compete at the highest level, and that kind of experience will be very valuable.
A lot of work needs to be done to improve the squad, and keeping Cooper will be a step in the right direction for maintaining a high standard.
While quality will be paramount with any new signings, keeping the likes of the 34-year-old will also be important for what he can bring both on and off the pitch and his presence could be vital in what's set to be a notably young squad once again next time out.
