Madonna has become London’s most recognisable soccer mum, splitting a weekend between Tottenham’s youth set-up and the women’s team as she cheered her daughters.

According to L'Équipe, she turned up on Saturday morning at a suburban artificial pitch to back Tottenham U14s. Supporting 13-year-olds Stella and Esterre from the Spurs development programme, she posted on Instagram lamenting the lack of sun and hailing a 5-0 win.

A day later she was in the stands for Tottenham Women’s 0-2 defeat to rivals Chelsea. Her Chelsea link dates to the early 2000s and her marriage to director Guy Ritchie, a devoted Blues fan.

Even after their 2008 divorce, she kept attending Chelsea, marking Premier League titles in 2010, 2015 and 2017, plus Champions League wins in 2012 and 2021. After the BlueCo takeover, close friend and PR chief Barbara Charone joined the board, encouraging more visits. Fans also saw her at Stamford Bridge last season for a Conference League match lost 1-2 to Legia Warsaw.

Her daughters now have her up early on Saturdays to back Spurs. Whether that is parental detour or a genuine shift across the divide remains unclear for the adopted Londoner. Tottenham coach Martin Ho said he expected her, that she comes often, and that such star backing highlights her support for the women’s game and the club.

Her football story continued after a false start in 2017, when she moved to Lisbon to support son David at Benfica’s academy. Now 20, he has left football for modelling and music. She has returned to a first love, English football on rainy Saturday mornings.
