With the possible arrival of Jesse Lingard, Corinthians would add another overseas player to the squad, edging closer to the CBF per match quota.

In December 2025, UOL Esporte reported that the CBF began talks with Serie A clubs about reducing the number of foreign players allowed in the Brasileirão, with the proposal to be debated through 2026 and any change likely introduced gradually if approved.

Lingard would be the seventh non-Brazilian in the current group. The squad already includes Memphis Depay of the Netherlands, Morocco’s Zakaria Labyad, Uruguay’s Pedro Milans, Peru’s André Carrillo, and Argentinians Rodrigo Garro and Fabrizio Angileri.

Under CBF regulations, clubs may list up to nine foreign players on the teamsheet for each match in competitions organised by Brazilian federations. There is no overall cap on overseas players in the squad, but only nine can be listed for a single game.

The rule covers domestic tournaments such as the Brasileirão, Copa do Brasil and Supercopa Rei. For international competitions including the Libertadores and Sudamericana, Conmebol rules apply and do not impose the same per match restriction.

This window, Corinthians have trimmed their overseas contingent. Félix Torres was loaned to Internacional, while Héctor Hernández and José Martínez had their contracts terminated. Ángel Romero has also departed.
