Barry Bannan has been linked with a return to Sheffield Wednesday after his January exit
Sheffield Wednesday are planning for life back in League One under new owners after a tumultuous campaign on and off the pitch.
The Owls went into administration last October, and new owners Arise Capital were only installed in early May.
Henrik Pedersen’s side struggled to to compete in the Championship, and ultimately finished bottom of the table with zero points.
A number of key players departed Hillsborough over the last 12 months, including Barry Bannan, but the midfielder could yet make his return to the club.
It has been reported that the League One side are hoping to secure a deal to bring him back to Pedersen’s side just months after his exit during the January transfer window.
Here we use estimated figures from Capology to see how much the 36-year-old was earning prior to his switch to Millwall earlier this year…

Bannan originally signed for Sheffield Wednesday in the 2015 summer transfer window from Crystal Palace.
He went on to make 477 appearances for the club over the course of 10-and-a-half years, cementing his place as a modern legend.
However, the financial issues at Hillsborough took their toll, and he made the move to Millwall midway through the campaign, with Alex Neil’s side chasing promotion to the Premier League.
Prior to his move away from Sheffield Wednesday, Bannan was receiving £24,038 per week from the Yorkshire outfit.
This made him the highest paid member of Pedersen’s side, earning more than Iké Ugbo and Dominic Iorfa’s £20,000-a-week.
It remains to be seen what kind of salary the midfielder would earn if he made the move back to Hillsborough.
However, the change in ownership should mean that financial issues won’t be as much of a factor this time for Bannan.
It was originally feared that Sheffield Wednesday would be placed under a salary cap limit as part of the terms of exiting administration, but it was later reported that this won’t be the case, which should free up funds for Bannan’s possible return.

Bannan joined Millwall in the January window with the team in the mix for promotion to the Premier League.
He agreed terms on an 18-month contract worth £17,500 per week, meaning he took a pay cut to make the move to the Den.
During his time with the Lions, he made 14 regular league appearances, including six starts, with the club coming third in the Championship table.
Alex Neil’s side missed out on automatic promotion by one point, and then lost 2-0 to Hull City in the play-off semi-finals.
This consigned the London outfit to another year in the second division, as they look to end their long-awaited return to the top flight.
Millwall haven’t competed in the first division since 1990, and Bannan was only able to contribute one assist in the club’s bid to end that wait.
Sheffield Wednesday will now be hoping that he can return to Hillsborough this summer, and help the Owls in their bid to earn promotion from League One.
