Norwich City are continuing to trend upwards in what remains of the 2025/26 Championship campaign, in which the Canaries are now facing little jeopardy under Philippe Clement following the appointment of the former Rangers boss back in November.

Clement inherited a side in grave danger of suffering relegation to League One in the wake of a disastrous start to the season under Liam Manning, although the ship has now been steadied and, with increasing harmony away from the pitch between supporters and the club's often-scrutinised hierarchy including sporting director Ben Knapper, there is reason for excitement ahead of the following term.

In terms of what lies ahead in the current campaign's closing stages, Norwich are destined for a mid-table finish and find themselves positioned in 15th place with 10 Championship matches to spare.

Despite having played precious little football in recent times prior to his arrival at Carrow Road, though, Maghoma has instantly hit the ground running to emerge as a swift fan favourite among the Canaries faithful.

The talented technician has registered two goals and an assist in his opening seven outings, finding the back of the net in February victories over West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield Wednesday.

It will arrive as a pleasant surprise to supporters, then, that Norwich actually snapped up Maghoma's signature on an initial free transfer, following suggestions on social media that the deal had set the Canaries back some £800,000.

However, as reported by Chris Reeve of BBC Norfolk via X on Thursday evening, Maghoma moved to Norwich on a free and the quoted £800,000 sum is only what the deal will rise to in the future if various add-on and performance-related criteria are met.

Indeed, from the early evidence, that fee may still have represented something of a bargain for Norwich, who appear to have struck serious gold in the transfer market with the signing of Maghoma and the one-time Tottenham Hotspur prodigy will only be expected to continue going from strength to strength heading into next term and beyond.

Knapper has certainly endured his shortcomings at Carrow Road, and supporters were right to vocalise their concerns regarding the club's recruitment policy earlier in the campaign.

However, Norwich are on the up once more and Knapper will continue to earn further goodwill with supporters if he can broker more deals of this kind moving into the summer.

The Canaries were shrewd and savvy to identify Maghoma's potential in spite of limited game-time, and he's shown himself to be capable of delivering an instant impact instead of requiring time to get up to speed.

With a powerful, ball-carrying presence, Maghoma offers a new dimension to Clement's side and his ability to progressively move play upfield and drift past opponents with flair and quality in tight spaces has earned no shortage of plaudits.

He brings a goal threat from midfield, too, and could well become the next big star at Carrow Road in the not-too-distant future.
