The Blades reached the play-off final in the previous campaign, but Chris Wilder’s side lost 2-1 to Sunderland at Wembley Stadium.

The Yorkshire outfit appointed Ruben Selles in the aftermath of this defeat, but Wilder returned as head coach by September after a disappointing start to the term.

Their poor form couldn’t be turned around enough to lead the club back to a promotion push, which has now led to uncertainty surrounding the futures of key players like Gustavo Hamer and Tyrese Campbell.

The Sheffield United boss has hinted that sales could be made this summer to avoid losing them both as free agents when their deals expire in 2027.

Here we use estimated figures from Capology to see how much Hamer and Campbell earn at Bramall Lane as speculation mounts on their time in the team…

Hamer joined Sheffield United from Coventry City in the 2023 summer transfer window following the club’s promotion to the Premier League.

The playmaker arrived in a deal worth £15 million, but the Yorkshire outfit were unable to survive in the top flight and they finished 20th in the table.

Meanwhile, Campbell joined as a free agent in 2024 from Stoke City following the expiration of his contract.

The pair were both crucial figures in the side last year as Sheffield United finished third in the Championship table before their play-off final loss to Sunderland.

Hamer is one of the best paid players at Bramall Lane, with the 28-year-old receiving £30,000 per week as part of the four year contract he signed when he joined in 2023.

But this deal is now set to enter its final 12 months, raising uncertainty over whether he will be at the club next season.

Hamer has previously received interest from the likes of Leeds United and PSV Eindhoven.

Meanwhile, Campbell signed a three-year deal in 2024 that has net him a salary of £15,000-a-week.

Hamer is not the absolute highest earner among the permanent members of the Sheffield United squad.

That honour instead goes to summer signing Japhet Tanganga, who arrived from Millwall in a deal worth a reported £10 million.

The centre-back is paid £35,000 per week, which is £5,000-a-week more than Hamer receives.

Tom Davies is departing Bramall Lane at the end of the campaign, but the midfielder still currently receives a salary equal to Hamer at £30,000 per week, as does Danny Ings and Patrick Bamford.earning

Other high earners include Adam Davies, Ben Mee, Jaido Riedewald, Joe Rothwell, Mark McGuinness, Tahith Chong and Tom Cannon, with each of these players earning £25,000 per week.

Similarly paid players to Campbell include Callum O’Hare, Andre Brooks and Sam McCallum, with the trio all earning £15,000 per week as well.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Campbell or Hamer, as contract extensions could also be agreed to keep them at Bramall Lane long-term.
