The USMNT striker could be set for a big pay rise in January if he departs Carrow Road
Norwich City striker Josh Sargent could have at least two Premier League moves on his horizon this January.
The United States international was being looked at in the summer by promoted sides Burnley and Leeds United, among others, but ended up staying at Carrow Road.
However, with Norwich’s dismal form seeing them only kept off the base of the Championship by administration-stricken Sheffield Wednesday, now could be the time for Sargent to finally move on.
With two Premier League sides reportedly interested, Football League World take a look at the sort of pay rise that Sargent could be in line for.

The 25-year-old has been the Canaries figurehead and primary striker for a few seasons now, registering 13, 16 and 15 goals in consecutive Championship seasons.
He’s showing no signs of slowing down either, despite Norwich’s poor form.
Despite that contribution, he only attracts a wage of £25k per week, according to estimates from Capology.
While that is a fortune to the average person, it doesn’t recognise Sargent’s importance to Norwich, with five players estimated to be on the same or more money than the striker, and also doesn’t tally with what a forward of his quality could earn.
The club’s sporting director, Ben Knapper, claimed to the Pink Un that he doesn’t expect Sargent to leave mid-season, but at present there’s little keeping the American at Carrow Road; intense interest could become difficult to resist.
Burnley are one of the Premier League sides said to be interested in Sargent, having failed in their pursuit in the summer, with journalist Alan Nixon confirming via his Patreon earlier this month that the Clarets want to go back in for the striker in January.
It was said in the summer that Norwich were looking for offers above £16m in the summer, with Burnley having offered a complicated £10m package that only guaranteed £1.5m upfront, according to Nixon.
Recruiting in January is difficult, and the Canaries have Sargent under contract until 2028, so it could take a top offer to bring them to the table.
Therefore, Burnley’s summer signing of Armando Broja from Chelsea, in a deal worth up to £20m, is a good point to benchmark Sargent from.
Despite coming from a more elite setup, Broja’s recent record is no match for Sargent, so the latter should be valued at least similarly to the Albania international.
Broja commands a £45k per week base wage at Turf Moor, according to Capology estimates.
Based on those figures, it’s likely that Sargent could bank a wage approaching double what he currently earns should this move progress.

Another Premier League side said to be interested in Sargent is West Ham, who recently dispatched scouts to watch the striker ahead of the January window.
Burnley’s top earner, by some distance, is Kyle Walker, reportedly earning £75k per week.
West Ham have five players earning £100k a week or more, according to Capology, with Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta their joint top earners, on £150k – double that of Walker at Burnley.
However, that doesn’t necessarily mean Sargent’s expected earnings would be wildly different at West Ham compared to Burnley.
The Hammers have signed some top Championship talent in recent seasons, with Crysencio Summerville one of the most notable examples, signing for £25m in 2024.
According to Capology, he was handed a wage of £45k, the same as Broja at Burnley, so it seems like that could be the going rate for an attacking talent in this bracket.
Given Sargent would likely have a greater importance at Burnley over West Ham, the former may even be prepared to push the boat out a little further to attract the striker.
