The Whites are back in the Premier League after a remarkable season under Daniel Farke, which was capped off on Saturday as they clinched the title thanks to a late win at Plymouth, hitting the 100-point mark in the process.

Now, attention is turning to next season, with chairman Paraag Marathe making it clear that Leeds will invest as they look to establish themselves among the elite.

It has been claimed that Longstaff is on Leeds’ radar, with the 27-year-old someone who has proven himself in the Premier League over the years.

However, with his contract at boyhood club Newcastle expiring in 2026, the north-east outfit know this summer could be the last chance to get a fee for the midfielder.

So, a sale is possible, and TEAMtalk has revealed that it will take a £10m fee for Newcastle to do business when the window opens.

Interestingly, they add that there is a ‘growing belief’ that Leeds could move quickly for Longstaff, who may be one of the ‘first deals’ they make this summer.

Sean Longstaff would be a smart addition for Leeds United

This may not be the sort of eye-catching signing that Leeds fans want to see after their promotion, but bringing in Longstaff would be a shrewd bit of business for the club.

Firstly, he has experience at this level, making over 150 Premier League appearances for Newcastle, so he knows what’s required to be successful, and that experience could be vital.

Plus, he has the physicality and energy that Farke will want from his midfield. The German will try to play a high-intensity game, and it shares similarities to the way Eddie Howe plays, so Longstaff should fit in pretty easily.

With doubts about Joe Rothwell’s future, bringing in a midfielder is going to be a priority, and Longstaff is someone who could slot in straight away.

Finally, for £10m, he wouldn’t be the most expensive outlay, and whilst Leeds do appear ready to spend big, they still need to be intelligent with recruitment, so it’s about finding bargains as well.
