Former Italy CT Roberto Mancini has been officially unveiled as the new head coach of Qatar Stars League outfit Al Sadd in a deal that could potentially see him earn over €20m in wages over a two-and-a-half year period according to the latest reports.

Mancini had been out of work for just over a year following his departure from his role of head coach of the Saudi Arabia national team last October.

He had also been linked with various jobs across Europe over the last few months, including with Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, as well as a number of different sides in Serie A, Juventus and Atalanta among them, but has since decided to return to the Middle East in order to take over with Al Sadd.

Al Sadd have confirmed that Mancini has signed a contract that will tie him to the club until the summer of 2028. Some reports in Italy claim, however, that the coach has agreed to a contract until the end of the 2025-26 season with an option to extend for a further two seasons.

According to various reports on Thursday, Mancini is expected to take home a salary of €5m for his work with Al Sadd until the end of the 2025-26 season, which will rise to €8m for the following two years on his contract.

If he were to see out the entirety of his contract on those reported wages, the former CT would take home an estimated €21m for just over two-and-a-half years of work.
