After joining Liverpool's academy in the summer of 2015 from Chelsea's, Brewster spent five years in the Reds' youth system but failed to make a single senior league appearance during his time on Merseyside.

A loan spell with Swansea City in the second half of the 2019/20 season saw Brewster score 10 times in 20 Championship matches as the Welsh club narrowly missed out on promotion via the play-offs.

This alerted the attention of numerous clubs across the Premier League and Championship, with it being Sheffield United who won the race for the English youth international's signature, paying Liverpool £23.5 million for his services in October 2020.

Brewster signed a five-year deal with the Blades, who had just finished ninth in the Premier League.

Following the expiry of his deal at Bramall Lane, Brewster has since joined Derby on a free transfer, becoming one of many summer arrivals at Pride Park.

Brewster's wages, as of his final season at Sheffield United, according to Capology estimates, were £35,000 per week. In comparison, he is now earning nearly half of that in Derbyshire, on £20,000 per week.

Although by no means will Brewster struggle to live off his new wage with the Rams, it's certainly a significant amount less than what he was earning during his time in Yorkshire.

On top of that, the 25-year-old has only signed a two-year deal with Derby as he looks to re-find the form that he showed during his brief loan spell with Swansea over five years ago.

The Englishman is the joint-second highest paid player at Derby this season, tied with both Matt Clarke and Lewis Travis, with Ben Brereton Diaz and Carlton Morris reportedly the club's best paid players on £25,000 per week.

Rhian Brewster will be hoping to revive his career at Derby County after a tricky spell with Sheffield United

The primary reason for Brewster's wage drop is largely down to the poor form he displayed during his time at Bramall Lane.

Despite still being only 25-years-old and considering the hefty fee they paid for Brewster five years ago, Sheffield United saw the Englishman depart the club this summer even after offering him fresh terms to stay at the club.

It would be fair to suggest that the former England youth international time in Sheffield didn't exactly go to plan.

In his first four seasons with the club, Brewster scored just five times and assisted once in 77 appearances across all competitions.

It was his final season at the club, last campaign, where he began to show glimpses of the player he once promised to be, scoring four and assisting three in 36 Championship matches as the Blades were defeated in the play-off final against Sunderland.

Now entering his first season at Derby, Brewster will be looking to revitalise his career which had once shown so much promise.
