How much money Southampton are receiving from the imminent departures of Kamaldeen Sulemana and Paul Onuachu.

Southampton duo Paul Onuachu and Kamaldeen Sulemana are set to leave St Mary's this summer, following the club's relegation to the Championship.

Both players arrived on the south coast in the winter transfer window of 2023, but after just two-and-a-half years at the club, they look set to depart in the same window.

It's fair to say that neither player lived up to expectations for the Saints, and the club will be hoping to reinvest some of the fees they receive in players that can help their promotion efforts next season.

But how much exactly are Southampton receiving for both players?

Paul Onuachu's Trabzonspor transfer fee revealed

Onuachu joined the Saints in the winter of 2023, signing from Belgian Pro League outfit Genk for a fee believed to be worth around £15m. The Nigerian arrived with an excellent goalscoring record, which certainly had fans excited.

However, he was unable to recapture the form he showed in Belgium, only becoming a first-team regular under Juric in the second half of last season. Over two-and-a-half years, Onuachu made just 40 appearances, and scored a measly four goals.

Now the six-foot-seven-inch striker is set to sign for Trabzonspor, bringing his nightmare stint at St Mary's to a close.

Unfortunately, Southampton won't be getting back anywhere near the £15m they spent in January 2023, but according to reports by the Daily Echo, the agreed fee between the two clubs is around £6m.

Over the last couple of years, the Hampshire-based outfit hasn't had much luck with their big-money signings, and the main example of this is Sulemana, who was also a new addition in the 2023 winter transfer window.

A quick, technical winger who caught the eye at Stade Rennais, Saints splashed out a club-record fee of £22m to bring the Ghanian international to the south coast of England.

However, his story has been similar to that of Onuachu's, as Sulemana has struggled to adapt to life in England, and has shown little development in recent years to suggest that he's making progress.

With just two goal contributions in 26 Premier League outings last term, the 23-year-old became the subject of interest from former boss Juric, who is now in post at Serie A side Atalanta.

After having bids rejected by Southampton, reports emerged last night that the two clubs had finally agreed on a fee which will see Sulemana link up with his former boss in Bergamo.

As per the Daily Echo, the initial fee is around €17m (£14.5m), which could eventually rise to around €21 (£18m). The Saints have also managed to agree a 15% sell-on clause in the deal, which means they could recoup more of that club-record fee in the future.
