One clause could mean that the Saints are set to receive a hefty sum.
Things certainly appear calmer at Southampton following a dramatic end to the Championship season, but that feeling could change at any given point.
Saints were the talk of the English game after the Spygate saga, and while nobody has forgotten about those events, focus has turned to the summer transfer window.
The South Coast club have already acquired Daniel Peretz and Cyle Larin on permanent deals, while Ross Stewart left the club after his contract expired.
Away from St Mary's Stadium, the potential deal to take former Saints star Mateus Fernandes from West Ham to Tottenham has caught the eye, and it is a move that could hand Southampton some sizeable funds.

Fernandes left Southampton following their relegation from the Premier League last year, and the Portugal international is in a similar situation 12 months later.
The midfielder was one of several West Ham stars who enjoyed a promising season despite the club's woeful top-flight showing, and his exit was always going to be a matter of time.
Yesterday, The Athletic's David Ornstein reported that Spurs had agreed to pay the Hammers £85million for his services, which will be music to Saints' ears.
That is because if the 21-year-old's sell-on clause is 15 per cent of profit, then the South Coasters would be due just shy of £6.5m, according to the Southern Daily Echo's Alfie House.
While the deal has yet to be confirmed, it feels like an inevitability before it goes through, with the Lilywhites beating Manchester United to Fernandes' signature.

News of a fresh cash injection will be welcome news at St Mary's, but now the club must press on with their transfer business and bring in the right players.
Much of what Southampton do in the market will depend on outgoings, as several of their star men have been heavily linked with the exit door.
The most likely to leave at this stage appears to be Shea Charles, who has been regularly linked with a move to Leeds United and with a year left on his contract, Saints have a decision to make on his future.
If he were to leave, then it has been reported that Southampton could go for Sunderland's Dan Neil, who is out of contract this summer and has stellar Championship pedigree.
Tonda Eckert already has a superb squad filled with quality, and if the club can sprinkle a little more talent on top of that, then they will be primed to challenge for promotion once more.
Understandably, Saints supporters are very pleased at the news that their club could be set to receive a large sum for a player who only spent a year at St Mary's.
One fan then made a rather witty comment about the reason why the Portuguese is going to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
