How PSG’s squad could look after their second Champions League crown

After a second Champions League title, Paris Saint-Germain will step up a busier summer rebuild.

According to L'Équipe, all business was paused before the final, with Luis Campos to resume on Monday. The strategy, approved by Nasser al-Khelaïfi and driven by Luis Enrique, is to anticipate needs. PSG want a centre-back who can cover right-back, a young deputy to Nuno Mendes, a right-sided forward, a striker and an 18-year-old goalkeeper who may train with the seniors.

The immediate priority is a versatile number nine. Talks for Julian Alvarez of Atlético de Madrid have cooled over his indecision, and Enrique and Campos move on if a player lacks a strong desire to join.

Maghnes Akliouche, 24, is very keen on Paris, and any Monaco deal would come alongside a more central striker. Lee Kang-in and Gonçalo Ramos could depart as both want bigger roles.

Bradley Barcola’s extension is a live issue. Even with two years left, his status is uncertain, and several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, are interested. Liverpool had seemed to prefer a right-sided option, and Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig fits that brief and is in talks.

Ibrahim Mbaye is attracting interest despite his attachment to PSG, with Aston Villa among admirers. PSG would not block Marquinhos if he sought a move, Saudi avenues have cooled, and Qatar would appeal more were he to leave, while Lucas Hernandez would need a major bid. Lucas Chevalier wants more than a back-up role, and Diogo Costa is also monitored.
