Real Salt Lake appeared to have a big move for Boavista striker Róbert Boženík all wrapped up this week, but the deal collapsed at the final hurdle in frustrating fashion for the MLS side and the Slovakia international.
The 25-year-old has bagged 25 goal contributions in just under 100 appearances for the Portuguese club, but looked all set for a move to MLS in the last 72 hours.
According to MLS insider Tom Bogert, Boženík had already traveled to complete the move after the two clubs came to an agreement on the deal last week, but it fell apart at the final hurdle.
According to the report, Boavista tried to change terms at the last moment, and much to the chagrin of RSL fans, the Utah club were unwilling to agree to the altered deal.
There is said to still be a window open for the striker to join Real Salt Lake, but only if Boavista 'reverse course'.
It is not the only time in recent days an MLS club has fallen victim of suspect transfer dealings with the Portuguese outfit.
Tom Bogert also reported that Boavista had still not paid a 'single penny' to FC Dallas for a 2020 transfer of Reggie Cannon, nor had they to Houston Dynamo for a 2020 transfer of winger Alberth Elis as of earlier this week.
Related or not to the seemingly collapsed deal, RSL have announced the signing of Sporting KC forward Willy Agada.
