Football League World looks at the net worth of the two sides' owners ahead of their FA Cup clash on Saturday

The Hollywood tie of this season's FA Cup fifth round, in both a literal and a figurative sense, sees Wrexham welcome Chelsea to the Stok Cae Ras on Saturday.

The journey of the Red Dragons since they were taken over by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac in 2020 is nothing short of remarkable, with Phil Parkinson's side threatening a fourth consecutive promotion from the National League to the Premier League this season.

However, despite the fairytale success in their rise up the domestic leagues, this is, in fact, just their second domestic cup tie against a Premier League side in that time, and the first against one of the traditional 'big six.'

Chelsea are eight-time winners of the most famous cup competition in the world, and haven't been knocked out by a side outside the Premier League since Bradford City won at Stamford Bridge 11 years ago.

They're one of the major European financial powerhouses, and have been since 2003, when Roman Abramovich first took over the club. Now, though, that status has skyrocketed under the ownership of Todd Boehly, one of the richest owners in football today.

Many look at the money Wrexham have spent in the Championship and are under the illusion that the Hollywood duo must be nearing the top of the owners' rich list. In truth, they couldn't be further away.

How Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac's net worth compares to Todd Boehly

According to separate articles from Wales Online in January 2026, Ryan Reynolds' net worth is estimated to be in the region of $400 million, or £295 million.

The Deadpool star is one of the most recognisable actors in the world, so while Rob Mac is still a respectable, famous actor, his net worth isn't as high. The 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' star's net worth is reported to be around $50 million, or £37.4 million.

Combined, that's $450 million, which is a respectable figure, but nowhere near the net worth of their opposing chairman for this Saturday's FA Cup clash.

According to Forbes, Todd Boehly's net worth stands at a massive $9.3 billion, a whole 20x more than the combined sum of Reynolds and Mac's.

Ahead of the start of the current season, it was reported that the Blues had spent almost £1.5 billion on players in the three years since the American businessman took control of the club, something that a club like Wrexham could only dream of doing in such a short spell.

This Saturday is still a David vs Goliath matchup between Wrexham and Chelsea

The sheer difference in net worth between the two owners just highlights the financial dominance that clubs such as Chelsea have over those even in the Premier League, but especially in the Championship.

There's a reason why massive cupsets like this don't occur often, but Wrexham will come into their meeting with Chelsea at the Racecourse with excitement and a nothing to lose mentality.

There has been an expectation on the North Wales outfit to progress quickly up the divisions since Reynolds and Mac took over, but those expectations to win aren't there this weekend, and we saw what that did to Phil Parkinson's side when Nottingham Forest came to town in the third round, when the pressure was off, too.

Both sides ultimately have bigger things to worry about this season in their domestic leagues, and for Chelsea, continental competitions. But Liam Rosenior will be keen not to be knocked out by a Championship side with the footballing world watching.

So, a focused Chelsea side, plus a Wrexham outfit with the shackles off, in front of a sold-out Racecourse ground, will be the ingredients for a classic cup tie, for sure.
