Real Madrid have established their interest in signing Stamford Bridge wantaway Enzo Fernandez this summer.

Chelsea have attached a price tag of £120 million to their vice-captain, who’s tied down to a lengthy deal until 2032.

Fernandez to Madrid could unlock Aurelien Tchouameni to MUFC

Should a deal be agreed between the Blues and the Spanish giants, it could, in turn, open the door for Manchester United to materialise their long-standing interest in Aurelien Tchouameni.

Having first set their sights on him during his stellar stint with AS Monaco, the French international has re-emerged as a target in the lead-up to the transfer window amid INEOS’ ongoing midfielder search.

Securing such an experienced and proven star, who’s still just 26, would be an unmissable opportunity for United if he were indeed made available – but his replacement would have to be lined up first.

A squad shake-up is anticipated at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer following back-to-back trophyless seasons, which is pretty much unheard of for Los Blancos.

Whether Tchouameni will be a part of that remains to be seen, and United will undoubtedly be at the front of the queue if he is.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed at the start of the week just how highly regarded Tchouameni is at Old Trafford, saying on his YouTube channel: “Aurelien Tchouameni, if you ask me, who is probably internally considered as a dream midfielder target for Manchester United.

“He is for sure a player they love. He’s a player they believe could be another Casemiro for Manchester United.”

Casemiro bid farewell to the Red Devils faithful after the side’s final home outing of 2025/2026, before reaching an agreement with Michael Carrick that he would be omitted from the last fixture against Brighton and Hove Albion.

The veteran is now closing in on a move to Inter Miami as a free agent and is preparing for yet another major tournament representing his native Brazil.
