Seattle Sounders have confirmed the arrival of Pedro de la Vega from Lanus, and he'll be able to aid the Western Conference club all across the front line.

The Sounders offseason just got a whole lot better as they brought in the highly-rated 22-year-old to provide goals and assists up front at Lumen Field. It took Seattle a while to get the deal across the finish line, but head coach Brian Schmetzer will be delighted to have a player of de la Vega's quality in his squad as the prepare to navigate a busy 2024 season.

Here's how the two-time MLS Cup winners could lineup with the talented playmaker in their side.

De la Vega as a left-winger

De la Vega typically starts games out on the left-wing, looking to cut inside and do damage with his favored right foot.

While the Sounders already have the likes of Cristian Roldan and Leo Chu out on their respective wings, De la Vega didn't join to sit on the bench. He'll get his fair share of minutes while also pushing Roldan and Chu to be at their very best through the congested season.

There's also always the chance another forward could be on their way out of the club during the transfer window, making the signing even more important.

Although De la Vega isn't left-footed, he can still do damage form the right-wing as he's done before in Liga Profesional in Argentina.

We'd probably see De la Vega swing in several crosses from this side of the field for USMNT figure Jordan Morris to smash home. It wouldn't be his preferred spot on the pitch, but he would still wreak havoc on opposing defenses alongside his fellow Sounders attackers.

Potential lineups

De le Vega through the middle

Playing De la Vega through the middle as a No. 10 makes sense after the departure of the legendary Nicolas Lodeiro, who recently joined Orlando City as a free agent.

However, it's much more likely for the versatile. forward to be deployed on the wings given his pace and dribbling abilities and that Seattle can already lean on Albert Rusnak, who enjoyed a solid 2023 while playing as an attacking midfielder.

But if there ever comes a time when Rusnak is unavailable for selection, de la Vega has the tools to get the job done as a creative midfielder.
