With the departures of Benjamin Šeško, Loïs Openda and Xavi Simons, RB Leipzig have a new look attack for the 2025/26 season. At the forefront of their revamped frontline in Rômulo. The Brazilian, signed from Göztepe for €20m, already has three goal contributions (two goals, one assist) in six Bundesliga games, averaging a contribution every 159.6 minutes.
Playing alongside Johan Bakayoko, Yan Diomande and Antonio Nusa – two of which like Rômulo joined in the summer – the Brazilian referenced Timo Werner as a player who has helped him adapt to life in the Bundesliga. Leipzig’s top scorer has 113 goals but hasn’t had a look-in at the Saxony club for some time now, although he’s still able to offer his assistance to his teammates.
“Timo is a really good boy, very funny – I like him. He supports me every day in training, praising me with words like ‘good’ or ‘bravo’. He’s a great player. It’s good to have him on the team,” said Rômulo, via Bild.
Rômulo has already been linked with a call up to the Brazil national team, but it’s currently not something that the 23-year-old is focused on. “My focus here is on Leipzig. If I do a good job here, maybe one day I’ll be there soon.”
