Arsenal have won four of the last five games in all competitions, drawing the other – their previous meeting with Leverkusen in the first leg. Their latest victory came against Everton on Saturday, and they have not lost since January 25.
Leverkusen have won just one of the last six games, drawing the other five. They secured a draw against Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich on Saturday.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on what to expect from Leverkusen: “Very much the same and watching them play against Bayern Munich at the weekend, very similar.
“So again, really well coached, a team with a very clear structure, really good individuals. Obviously we are in the stage, in the competition that we are in right now, so we know what we have to do, and in front of our crowd, with our people, putting all the energy in the world again, hopefully we are going to do it.”
Leverkusen boss Kasper Hjulmand: “We expect a very close game. In the first leg, we didn’t give them much of a chance.
“We’ll try to be just as dominant the second time around. We’re confident we can win here and that we can advance in this competition.
“Arsenal are a very good team – it’s very difficult to throw them off balance. We’re here to compete – we’re here to see if we can win the game. Let’s show who we are.
“We weren’t satisfied after Arsenal, and we weren’t satisfied after Bayern. We should have won. This hunger sets a benchmark for our level – we have to orient ourselves to that.”
