Recent form

Arsenal come into this after a disappointing 1-1 draw against Brentford in the Premier League. This result, combined with Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Fulham, meant their six point lead at the top of the table was reduced to four.

Mikel Arteta’s side went behind early in their third round clash against Portsmouth earlier this year, but a Gabriel Martinelli hat-trick made sure theye eased into the next round.

Wigan have not won a match in League One since the end of December against Burton, and their last win in all competitions was the previous round of this competition in early January.

Their 6-1 defeat to Peterborough on February 6th was the final straw for their former manager Ryan Lowe, who was sacked shortly after. Glenn Whelan will take charge of the side against Arsenal.

What’s been said?

Mikel Arteta previewed the match: “I mean, we are doing that every week,” he said. “Every three days we are playing different competitions so we are so used to it.

“So we will reflect on the game [v Brentford], take the positive, the learnings for sure that we have to improve and go on Sunday again with the energy and the batteries fully charged to go and win the game.

“Yes {we will make changes}, that’s what we’ve been doing. I mean, try to make sure that everybody is a big part of what we are doing in different competitions and Sunday will be the same.”
