Andoni Iraola is back at his former hunting ground in key Premier League fixture
The Cherries are on a run of 11 games unbeaten at the Vitality Stadium, a sequence that stretches all the way back to January and includes a win over Liverpool in the corresponding fixture last season.
Iraola, of course, was in charge of Bournemouth that day but departed in the summer after securing a best-ever Premier League finish for the club as they qualified for Europe for the first time in their history.
For that reason alone, the Spaniard is expected to receive a warm welcome at the Vitality, though he made it clear in the pre-match press conference that it will be all business once the game kicks off.
Iraola has endured a mixed start to life as Liverpool head coach. While they are unbeaten this season, their only Premier League win to date has come against promoted Ipswich, with draws against Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Fulham.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, are winless in the Premier League despite taking the lead in all four of their matches so far.
Like Liverpool - who beat Tottenham in the Carabao Cup - Marco Rose’s side do go into today’s game on the back of a midweek win, beginning their Europa League campaign in impressive fashion away at Real Sociedad.
TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on Sky Sports. Coverage starts at 1pm BST on Sky Sports Main Event ahead of kick-off at 2pm.
