Liverpool will be hoping for another classic Anfield Champions League night as they look to overturn a 2-0 deficit against reigning champions PSG in the second leg of their quarter-final tie.

Liverpool were comfortably swept aside by the French side in the first leg, but will be hoping to stage an almighty comeback and avoid a second consecutive Champions League exit at the hands of the French side.

Recent form

Liverpool’s inconsistent form all season has continued, losing three of their last four games, but their last outing was a 2-0 victory at home to Fulham on Saturday.

17 year-old Rio Ngumoha was their stand-out performer and opened the scoring with a stunning goal.

The reigning Premier League champions currently find themselves fifth in the Premier League table, clinging onto that final Champions League spot for next season. 

Similarly to last season, PSG seem to be finding form right at the perfect moment, having won seven straight games. 

They have already seen off English opposition in the last round, overcoming Chelsea 8–2 on aggregate.

What’s been said?

Liverpool manager Arne Slot said: “Again, the approach tomorrow will be to take the risk, because that’s first of all what we need, but to get the ball off them, you need to press them and we saw how difficult it is to press these players.

“But that was the same last season and Anfield made a big difference for us and I’m expecting it to make a big difference for us tomorrow as well.”

PSG manager Luis Enrique said: “You need to be careful, take care of the details, you need to be ready because you can concede a goal in the first half and the game is still open.

“We’ll go out there to try and win the game, like we’ve always done. They’ll come out and try to score but I need to ensure my team knows we will encounter difficulties in this game, it won’t be easy.

“It’s still going to be a really tight game, I think, despite what has happened thus far in the tie.”
