Anfield has a habit of sharpening the mood. A couple of wins, a bit of rhythm, a touch of belief, and the place starts to feel alive again. Liverpool head into this Premier League meeting with Fulham looking to build on victories over Ipswich and Atletico Madrid, and there is a sense that Andoni Iraola is beginning to get his ideas across.
Nothing is won in early September, of course. Nobody sensible gets carried away after a decent week. But there are signs of order where there had been uncertainty, and signs of energy where there had been frustration. Fulham arrive still searching for their first point of the campaign, and that makes them dangerous in its own way. Desperation has a way of focusing the mind.
The game kicks off at 3 pm UK time on September 4 at Anfield. For supporters in the United States, that means 10 am Eastern Time and 7 am Pacific Time.
It is one of those traditional Saturday afternoons that still carries an old-fashioned feel. The ground full, the expectation obvious, and the job simple enough on paper, win the match and keep the momentum going.

In the UK, supporters will not be able to watch Liverpool vs Fulham live on television or through a live stream because of the 3 pm broadcast blackout in English football.
In the US, the match is available to watch live on Peacock.

That split always frustrates match-going and stay-at-home fans alike in this country, but that is the landscape. For those inside Anfield, there will be no complaints. For those further afield, it is a case of keeping one eye on the clock and the other on the team news.
The biggest concern for Liverpool centres on Cody Gakpo. The forward has not returned to training after picking up a knock against Ipswich, and having already missed the win over Atletico Madrid, he looks a serious doubt again.
There is better news elsewhere. Bradley Barcola should be available, and Milos Kerkez is also expected to be fine. Both prompted concern in midweek, but Iraola has made clear those withdrawals were due to cramp rather than anything more serious.
Joe Gomez is edging closer to a comeback after returning to training this week. Whether he is ready for a place in the squad remains unclear, but his progress is encouraging after a lengthy spell out that dates back to the opening minutes of the first pre-season friendly.
Giovanni Leoni and Federico Chiesa are still unavailable, although both are expected back in training during the international break. Conor Bradley and Hugo Ekitike face a longer wait and are not due back until later in the year.
Fulham have their own concerns. Club captain Tom Cairney remains sidelined as he recovers from a minor knee procedure carried out last month. Young striker Jonah Kusi-Asare could also miss out again after enduring persistent knee trouble across last season.
Alvaro Arbeloa has had a difficult opening to life at Craven Cottage, and early pressure tends to build quickly in this league. Fulham will not care about the wider story, though. They will come to Anfield intent on making life awkward, slowing the game where they can, and testing Liverpool’s patience.
For the home side, the equation is straightforward. Keep the tempo high, move the ball quickly, and let Anfield do the rest. If Liverpool find their flow early, this could become a very long afternoon for Fulham.
