Recent form

Manchester City were in good form, before losing 2-1 to Newcastle at the weekend, having won four in a row before that. Those games including beating Borussia Dortmund 4-1 in the UCL and Liverpool 3-0 in the Premier League.

Leverkusen are in excellent form and have won five of their last six games in all competitions. They have only lost two of their last 15 games. Unfortunately for manager Kasper Hjulmand, one of those two losses came in the UCL, and was a shattering 7-2 defeat to PSG.

What’s been said?

Man City manager Pep Guardiola: “[We’ve had] more disappointment than good moments, there have been good moments especially in the group stage. Quarter-finals, Semi-finals, little margins in the last minute and for decisions we cannot control we are out.

“Those moments define the club and staff. Not everything is flowers. It’s part of who we are. We live it and that’s what we needed.”

Bayer Leverkusen boss Kasper Hjulmand on facing Man City: “It’s a great game, it’s Champions League, it’s one of the best teams in Europe. For us, we love these challenges. We are here to play our way, our style of football. That’s how it is in every game.”
