The first Old Firm derby of the season is finally here, with Rangers hosting Celtic in the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals.

This storied rivalry turned especially unsavoury last time out, and as a result, there will be no travelling fans at Ibrox for this latest edition.

Both Rangers and Celtic have had somewhat bumpy starts to the new campaign, with European competition proving challenging. Martin O’Neill’s Celtic recently gave up a four-goal advantage over LASK to miss out on qualifying for the Champions League, while Derek McInnes’ men were dumped out of Europa League qualifying on penalties by Jablonec of Czechia.

Focus now turns to domestic matters, though. Celtic have already edged ahead in the league, and Rangers here have an opportunity to continue their unbeaten run and get one over on their fiercest rivals. They head into this match having won four matches on the spin.

Celtic find themselves in the midst of the same run, though, complicating matters somewhat for McInnes.
