Recent form

Real Madrid are in poor form and have won only two of their last seven games. They are still however in a healthy position in both the UCL and La Liga. But manager Xabi Alonso is under a serious amount of pressure.

Manchester City are in wobbly form, and have won three of their last five games. They are scoring at will, with 11 goals in their last three matches, but they are not looking convincing. It took a last minute winner for them to beat Leeds 3-2 and they almost let a 5-1 lead against Fulham slip, who narrowly lost 5-4 in the end, but they comfortably beat Sunderland in their last game.

What’s been said?

Xabi Alonso: “The team is united, the team is convinced. Everyone is convinced we can win tomorrow. Nobody has doubts. But for that, we have to play with a good rhythm, intensity, and compete.”

Pep Guardiola: “We have lost important players … De Bruyne, Gundo, Walker; Stones and Rodri are not here. Many players are new and they have to experience it on these stages – and know that for the next time, I have done it and can do it again. It’s always a good place to come to prove yourself.”
