Arne Slot’s side are firmly in contention to finish in the top four as they chase a Champions League qualification spot.

The Reds beat West Ham 5-2 last time out to move level on points with Manchester United, but the Red Devils defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 on Sunday to reinstate their three-point cushion on their rivals.

Liverpool arrive at Molineux in good form, winning their last four games since their stoppage-time defeat by Manchester City at Anfield at the start of February.

It has seen them up to fifth in the Premier League table, on the shoulders of United and Aston Villa, whose defeat by local rivals Wolves in their last outing as seen their place in the top four thrown into question.

Today’s hosts will be buoyed by that victory, despite being 14 points from safety.

The bottom club are also six points adrift of their closest relegation rivals Burnley, with Rob Edwards looking to minimise damage as he prepares for a return to the second tier.

With that victory over Villa, Wolves surpassed Derby County’s record-lowest 11 points tally, meaning that they won’t find themselves in the Premier League history books for the wrong reasons.
