Vasco, unbeaten through March under Renato Gaúcho, are braced for a nine-game April across the Brasileiro, Copa Sudamericana and Copa do Brasil.

According to Globo.com, during the FIFA break the DESP unit ran daily checks at CT Moacyr Barbosa. After the Grêmio match players had two days off, returned on Wednesday, then rested again on Sunday.

Players were tested for condition, muscle load pre and post training, and sleep, with nutrition tailored to individual results. With no fixtures, training intensity rose, and transitions in attack and defence were a priority.

After facing Coritiba on Wednesday at Couto Pereira, the squad will undergo another detailed round of exams to assess the impact of a free week and the southern trip. Those findings will frame preparations to meet Botafogo at the weekend.

No final call has been made, but early staff talks point to a mainly reserve side for Barracas Central in Argentina on Tuesday 7, given the journey to Pará to play Remo on Saturday 11 April. With the heavy load and three long trips, detailed testing is planned at least twice weekly, alongside daily basic monitoring.

March yielded 10 points from 12 in the league, with wins over Palmeiras, Fluminense and Grêmio and a draw at Cruzeiro lifting Vasco off the bottom. April brings games roughly every three days, including Barracas Central, Remo, Audax Italiano, São Paulo, Corinthians, Paysandu and Olimpia.
