Vegetti has attracted formal interest from Cerro Porteño, who made an enquiry to his representatives this week, but it has not advanced to a bid.
According to Globo.com, Cerro Porteño director of football Enrique Biedermann regards the interest as real and talks ongoing, while nothing official has reached Vasco. Any deal is considered difficult because Vegetti is an idol at the club, though not impossible.
Vegetti was Vasco's top scorer in 2025 with 27 goals in 65 games, yet finished the campaign as a substitute under Fernando Diniz. He largely came off the bench during the run-in.
Diniz has requested a more mobile striker to suit his preferred style. Brenner of Udinese was explored, but that option stalled as the Italians are not entertaining a loan at present.
Financial factors are relevant. The Argentine is among the squad's highest earners, and the board would listen and negotiate if a formal proposal arrives. Even so, they do not intend to force his departure.
Internally his standing is clear, a fans' favourite in recent years and a dressing-room voice who often delivers pre-match messages. There have been no negative episodes with Diniz despite his bench role, and he has rejoined the group for Vasco's pre-season.
