World Cup call-ups will affect Flamengo’s selection for their final game before the break and shape workload management on players’ return.

According to Globo.com, Danilo, Léo Pereira, Alex Sandro and Lucas Paquetá will miss Coritiba at the Maracanã on 30 May. Brazil players report on 27 May and face Panama the following day.

Varela, De la Cruz and Arrascaeta for Uruguay, Carrascal for Colombia, and Plata for Ecuador are on provisional lists and likely to be called. Arrascaeta has a fractured right clavicle and has been allowed by Flamengo to continue treatment with Uruguay. Uruguay have no friendly, while Ecuador play Saudi Arabia on 30 May and Colombia meet Costa Rica on 1 June.

Carrascal and Plata are likely to join the absentees for the close of the Brasileirão first round. Flamengo do not alter plans before the World Cup, minutes are managed as usual and the club remains the priority.

While players are away and when they return, staff keep regular contact with national teams, sharing biochemical and physical data. After the tournament there will be assessments to minimise injury risk and adjust individual plans, which could affect early selections back.

Alex Sandro, 35, is the main concern among the Brazil call-ups. He is on an individual monitoring programme as he targets a final World Cup. His deal runs to the end of 2026, the board want to renew, but he has told friends he intends to slow down and could seek a less demanding market next year.
