Hamburger SV reportedly used a personalised video to help persuade Fábio Vieira to rejoin on a permanent deal after a lengthy saga.

According to Sport BILD, sporting director Claus Costa showed the 26-year-old a short film during a personal meeting.

The footage highlighted Vieira’s celebrations, best moments and emotional scenes from last season at the Volksparkstadion.

Club leaders felt the pitch was necessary with rival offers on the table. The compilation is said to have resonated, and Vieira chose to return.

The transfer then went through for €nine million, with Arsenal making concessions during negotiations.

Vieira made his first appearance last Sunday in a 5-0 home defeat to Mainz, and received rapturous applause.
