Huddersfield Town are monitoring AFC Wimbledon loanee Kyle Hudlin ahead of a potential recall, according to the League Two side’s manager Johnnie Jackson who spoke to the South London Press.
The Terriers are unlikely to have a huge amount of money to spend during the January transfer window – but manager Mark Fotheringham will surely be keen to put his stamp on the West Yorkshire side as he looks to keep them afloat in the Championship.
And their forward department is likely to be under the microscope this month considering they have scored just 24 goals in 25 league appearances, something that has been key to their decline this season.

Florian Kamberi is set to come in after spending a period of time training with the Terriers – but Jordan Rhodes has been linked with a move away from the John Smith’s Stadium and it’s currently unclear whether he will stay put.
With this, Fotheringham could potentially be considering a recall for Hudlin who has recorded four goals and one assist in 18 competitive appearances this season and could provide the second-tier side with something different with his height likely to be a real asset.
And Jackson has hinted that they may be considering bringing him back to West Yorkshire.
He said: “Huddersfield have a recall option on Kyle Hudlin.
“There is a good chance that we will lose him as well. We will be really light in numbers in the attacking department. We have a regular dialogue with them [Huddersfield].
“It’s something that they’re monitoring. It’s their call.”
The Verdict:
This is an incredibly difficult decision for Huddersfield because the return of Hudlin could give them a different option from the bench – and one of his goals could end up being the difference between promotion and relegation.
They still have a real chance of getting out of the drop zone after recent wins and that’s why they will probably throw the kitchen sink at trying to stay up, not in terms of spending but in terms of maximising what they can do.
It looks as though they have a clause to bring Hudlin back and if his return means they can bring in an extra player rather than focus too much on the forward department, then you could understand why they may want to call him back.
Etienne Camara benefitted considerably from spending time with the club’s B team, so they shouldn’t be too scared about potentially harming his development if he did return this month.
However, the player would surely want to remain at a senior level and with the forward likely to have gained key skills during his time at Plough Lane, some would argue that he shouldn’t be recalled.
