The Welsh international is said to be allowed to depart the John Smith’s Stadium this summer, with the Yorkshire side said to value their talent at £1 million.

The two parties are said to still be in the early stages of any transfer talk, with the Ligue 1 side only allowed to speak to Thomas after a deal has been agreed.

Nixon goes on to say that the former Boreham Wood man is the subject of plenty of transfer interest this summer, with clubs in England also said to have him on their wish list.

Sorba Thomas’ Huddersfield Town form attracts European interest

Having left the Yorkshire outfit to join Blackburn Rovers in the second-half of the previous campaign, Thomas returned to the John Smith’s Stadium ready to prove his worth last season, and he did exactly that.

Despite his Town side slumping to relegation from the Championship, the 23/24 campaign was a promising one for Thomas, who cemented his status as one of the EFL’s brightest talents.

The 24-year-old was a constant menace for the Terriers down the flanks, with his pinpoint delivery from set-piece situations causing all manner of problems for the majority of second tier defences.

Having scored four goals himself and set up a further nine for his teammates, the ex-Rovers loanee continued to stand out in a Town side destined for the drop, with interest gathering in his signature as a result.

The underlying numbers prove just how influential Thomas was in his side’s season, with his nine assists ranking in the top ten of the division, while only Ipswich Town’s chief creator Leif Davis (125) achieved more key passes than his 123.

In terms of whipping dangerous deliveries into the penalty, no player in the second tier could top Thomas’ efforts in that regard, with his 474 crosses the most out of any player in the Championship.

Sorba Thomas may add to Huddersfield Town departures after Championship relegation

Thomas won’t be the only player to leave Town after dropping from the Championship last season, with other top talents leaving the club this summer.

Promising playmaker Jack Rudoni [pictured] is the most high-profile name to depart the club since the season came to a close in May, with the former AFC Wimbledon man staying in the Championship with Coventry City.

The 23-year-old is said to have been subject to a £5 million deal to move to the Midlands this summer, as Mark Robins looks to replace the creativity of Callum O’Hare in the final third.

Striker Jordan Rhodes has also left the club to join fellow third tier side Blackpool after a loan spell with the Seasiders in the previous campaign, while Connor Mahoney and Aaron Rowe have moved to Barrow AFC and Gillingham respectively.

New boss Duff has also wasted no time in adding to his squad ahead of next month’s season-opener with Mickel Miller joining from Plymouth Argyle, while Lasse Sorensen made the move from Lincoln City.
