Huddersfield Town are lining up a loan for Sunderland goalkeeper Matty Young ahead of 2026-27, Alan Nixon reports on Patreon.
Sunderland are said to have vetted potential destinations and Huddersfield are expected to be cleared to borrow the 19-year-old England youth international.
Young, highly rated by Sunderland, had a stint at Darlington before two productive loans with Salford City in League Two. He helped Salford make the League Two play-off final last season, playing at Wembley in a 3-0 loss to Notts County.
He has represented England at under-18, under-19 and under-20 level and received an under-21 call-up last year. A switch to Huddersfield would offer another senior platform. Huddersfield’s goalkeeping group includes Lee Nicholls, Jak Alnwick, Jacob Chapman and Nik Tzanev, after last summer’s loanee Owen Goodman moved to Barnsley mid-season.
Separately, Wrexham have joined Millwall in showing interest in Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson. He is said to be valued at £8million to £10million for a permanent exit, though both clubs have been linked with a loan. Patterson spent the second half of last season away from the club.
