Huddersfield Town have made a strong start to their summer business.

Huddersfield Town boss Michael Duff is preparing the Terriers for life back in League One.

Huddersfield were relegated from the Championship last season and will play in the third tier for the first time since 2012.

The Terriers have already shown that they intend to bounce back at the first time of asking - newly appointed head coach Duff reached the League One play-off final with Barnsley at the end of the 2022/23 season, and the club have also made some impressive signings so far in the transfer window.

Duff needed to bring in reinforcements to ensure that Huddersfield will have one of the strongest squads in the division next term, alongside the likes of Birmingham City and Bolton Wanderers, as they aim to achieve promotion.

Huddersfield have made some good signings

The Terriers have brought in three new additions so far to strengthen their squad. All of them have experience in the third tier, two were highly impressive in League One last season and one was playing in the Championship.

Huddersfield also showed their ambition by attempting to sign last season's Golden Boot winner Alfie May from Charlton Athletic, although the move was hijacked by Birmingham and the 31-year-old opted for a move to the Midlands instead.

Let's take a look at the new signings that have been confirmed by Huddersfield and see why they are such good additions.

Lasse Sorensen

The Terriers signed right wing-back Lasse Sorensen from Lincoln City in a deal that could be worth up to £500,000.

Sorensen was a key part of the Imps' side that narrowly missed out on a play-off place last season.

According to Fotmob, the Dane ranked seventh for big chances created in the third tier last term, as well as providing eight assists from wing-back.

Duff has experienced success using wing-backs before during his managerial career, and he now has one of the best right-sided options in the division.

The Terriers have Sorba Thomas, who would also be one of the best options in the league in that position, although he may yet attract Championship interest this summer. If Thomas moves on, Sorensen is the ideal replacement, and if he stays, Huddersfield will have real strength in depth.

At the age of 24, Sorensen has plenty of time to improve his game. Huddersfield could end up making a significant profit on him in the future if he continues to perform and develop in the way that he has been.

Herbie Kane

Huddersfield have signed Herbie Kane after his contract expired at Barnsley. The midfielder worked with Duff during their time together at Oakwell.

The 25-year-old has an excellent range of passing and is capable of delivering a good set-piece. He dictated games from a slightly deeper position under Duff at Barnsley, and he will presumably be deployed in a similar role for Huddersfield next season.

Kane has reached the League One play-offs three times during his career with Doncaster Rovers and Barnsley, but he is yet to win promotion to the Championship. He will hope that he can go one better next season and return to the second tier with the Terriers.

Huddersfield sold midfielder Jack Rudoni to Coventry City earlier in the transfer window, and the signing of Kane is a good way to strengthen in that area of the pitch following his departure. Kane will add to the Terrier's options in midfield, alongside the likes of Jonathan Hogg, David Kasumu and Ben Wiles.

Mickel Miller

Left wing-back Mickel Miller has joined the Terriers from Plymouth Argyle. The move is another one that makes a lot of sense given Duff's preferred formation.

He was part of the Rotherham United side that won promotion to the Championship in 2022, and also played for Plymouth as they won the League One title in 2023.

Miller is a good dribbler and is strong on either foot. He likes to get the ball in the box, has a good set-piece delivery and can run at defenders with pace.

The Terriers have quite a few options at left wing-back, in Jaheim Headley, Ben Jackson and Josh Ruffels. Miller's versatility may mean he sometimes operates elsewhere, but there could well be one or two outgoings in that position before the end of the transfer window.

Huddersfield should be very happy with the signings they have made so far this summer, and there will no doubt be more to come as Duff continues to shape his squad. Having Sorensen on one side and Miller on the other should give Huddersfield a good balance next season, while Kane knows how to perform well in the manager's system from their time at Barnsley.
