Daily Echo reports that Emma Harries has been appointed Southampton FC Women captain ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 24-year-old striker joined last summer but missed almost the entire campaign after a long-term injury.

She finally made her debut on the final day, when Saints defeated Nottingham Forest. Now fully fit, she has been handed the armband by head coach Simon Parker, who said she would "lead by example on and off the pitch".

Harries described the captaincy as a huge honour and a privilege to represent the team.

Her appointment follows Atlanta Primus’s captaincy last season, with Primus departing at the end of her contract this summer. Megan Collett has been named vice-captain.

The 21-year-old defender came through the Southampton Academy and is entering her 10th year with her hometown club.

Saints begin their Barclays WSL2 campaign at home to Ipswich Town on Saturday, 13 September, with kick-off at 2pm.
