Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has hinted at dropping some players from his squad following a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign in Morocco.
South Africa bowed out in the Round of 16 at the hands of Cameroon, falling to goals from Junior Tchamadeu and Christian Kofane, while Evidence Makgopa scored a consolation in a 2-1 defeat.
Having clinched the Bronze medal in the previous continental showpiece in Ivory Coast, expectations were high for Bafana, but they couldn't replicate their exploits from 2023.
When quizzed after the match on whether he feels some players underperformed, Broos was cagey but didn't pour cold water on the suggestions of a major squad overhaul.
“I think this is not the right place or the right time to comment on that. Things are emotional, and partly, also frustration and you know when you are emotional sometimes you say things that you will regret afterwards, so I will not do that,” he said.
"We will make an evaluation in detail in the next few days, weeks, on what was not good and what was good and we will see what we have to change and not to change because in six months there's the World Cup and we need to be ready for that.
"We have to first make a good evaluation to look what the problems were or see what the good things were and see that we are ready again in March to play those friendlies and be well prepared for the World Cup.
