Hugo González was the standout positive for Celta de Vigo at Getafe, impressing from the first whistle for Claudio Giráldez’s side. In a contest where Andrés García caught the eye for the hosts, the former Valencia academy player was a constant threat.
According to Superdeporte, González started on the left and frequently drifted inside, always available to combine. He produced Celta’s best first-half opening after beating his man and shooting towards the far post, kept out by a fine one-handed save from David Soria.
He also took charge of every set piece, delivering with curl and precision. From one of those deliveries, his cross was met by Starfelt, who headed in Celta’s goal.
González kept demanding the ball and almost produced his team’s second, meeting a Javi Rueda cross but unable to apply the finish.
He finished an excellent outing with three key passes and two successful dribbles from four attempts.
