Carlo Ancelotti named Brazil’s last squad before the World Cup on Monday, and Corinthians goalkeeper Hugo Souza was omitted.

According to Meu Timao, it is his first exclusion since May last year, after four straight call-ups under the Italian.

He started only once in that run, a 3-2 defeat to Japan on 14 October.

Ancelotti said the goalkeeper places are not settled, with performances assessed after each game. He noted that Alisson, Bento and Ederson are ahead for now, but that could change by May, adding that those left out must work, play well and show the right attitude to convince his staff.

In November 2025, Hugo was called then cut with a muscle injury. This year Ancelotti watched Corinthians draw 1-1 with Cruzeiro on 25 February at Mineirão, and on Sunday goalkeeping coach Taffarel observed the Clássico Alvinegro at Vila Belmiro.

This squad will play Brazil’s final two friendlies before the tournament, against France on 26 March at Gillette Stadium in Boston, then Croatia five days later at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
