He joins Bento (Al-Nassr) and Ederson (Fenerbahçe) in the goalkeeping group named in Monday's squad by Carlo Ancelotti.

Alisson featured in Liverpool's most recent match, a 4-0 win over Galatasaray in the Champions League last 16 on Wednesday, starting and completing 90 minutes. No details of the injury were provided.

Brazil play France on 26 March in Boston, then Croatia on 31 March in Orlando.

Before the World Cup, Brazil will host Panama at the Maracanã on 31 May, then face Egypt on 6 June in Cleveland, both with the tournament squad.

The final list will be announced on 18 May. Preparation is scheduled to begin on 25 May at Granja Comary in Teresópolis, with player reporting dependent on European season workload. The team are set to travel to the United States on 1 June.
