In a month to forget for Corinthians, goalkeeper Hugo Souza topped the club’s fan ratings for September. According to Meu Timao, the Notas da Torcida votes and additional newsroom criteria put him first.

Corinthians failed to win any of their five games in September across the Brasileiro and Libertadores. They were knocked out by Estudiantes in the quarter-finals and suffered three league setbacks against Chapecoense, Flamengo and Fluminense.

Hugo featured in four of those fixtures and finished with an average score of 4.5. The podium was completed by forward Kaio César on 4.2 and centre-back Gustavo Henrique on 3.7.

At the other end, Jesse Lingard had the month’s lowest mark with a 1.1 average from four appearances. Head coach Fernando Diniz received 2.6 for the period.

Only players who appeared in at least half of September’s matches were ranked. Centre-back Iago Machado averaged 6.0 but played only twice, so he was excluded from the list.

Corinthians are on the FIFA international break and training at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava. Their next game is away to Internacional on seven October at 19:30 at Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre, a direct meeting in the fight against relegation.
