Parc des Princes embraced a Hulk-themed spectacle as PSG beat Liverpool 2-0 in the Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday. L'Équipe notes that the night met supporters' expectations.

Auteuil unfurled a giant tifo of Hulk tearing the Reds crest, watched by Isack Hadjar and Paul Mirabel. Boulogne showed three Bruce Banner transformations in PSG colours, and Alan Silvestri’s score greeted the teams. Désiré Doué and Khvitcha Kvaratskhelia were cast in the Hulk role.

PSG struck in the 11th minute then doubled the lead on 65 minutes, igniting the stadium. The show recalled Borussia Dortmund’s visit on 7 May 2024, when the ground turned Star Wars, but this first leg left Paris with a kinder scoreline.

There may even be a hint of regret. Warren Zaïre-Emery’s penalty was awarded then overturned by VAR on 71 minutes, another shout for an Ibrahima Konaté push on Nuno Mendes at 90+2 was waved away, and late profligacy suggested more was possible.

Among those in attendance were Big Flo & Oli, Grand Corps Malade, F1 trio Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon and Isack Hadjar, plus former players Marco Verratti and Blaise Matuidi. Liverpool’s 2 376 travelling fans were quiet and there were no pre-match incidents. PSG head to Anfield in a week with a two-goal cushion, tasked with ensuring the Reds do not turn the volume back up.
